Is print dead, or has it proven to be resilient?

The ongoing pandemic created such havoc and uncertainty in the print community.

Enterprise level companies announcing #WFH extensions or outright making #FlexWork a permanent option....here are 23 companies switching to long-term remote work.

OEMs taking huge hits in 2020....Xerox announcing a 20% overall decrease in revenue, and Okidata completely pulling out of North, Central and South Americas.....

But wait......there may be a glimmer of hope!

HP announced a more than 20% increase in consumer hardware at a time when other OEMs have fallen short.

We've been watching the market over the last year, and agree with Sarah Scudder that #PrintIsNotDead. Print is resilient.....60% of people prefer having printing options to remain productive while working – whether they are at home, in the office, or working from wherever they want. While the pandemic has permanently changed the way we work and live, companies in the print industry who are able to pivot and provide multiple options for increased productivity to their clients wherever they might work, will prove to be successful.

Gone are the days where businesses rely on large A3 type copiers...the ones in the shared “copy rooms” that everyone in the office is networked to. With less people in the office, we predict that A3’s will be phased out over time, in favor of desktop laser multifunctions. They are very competitively priced and compete well with TCO in comparison with the larger A3 copiers.

There are lots of ways companies can provide their workforce with productive ways to do their jobs – upgrading their home inkjet printers to laser MFPs would reduce their CCP (cost per page) of consumables, with managed print services or auto-toner fulfillment options available wherever the printers are located. Learn more on whether your company should use an A3 copier or an A4 multifunction printer.
